For a couple years I didn’t know what was happening in our world – a few strange, unusual things. Was it stress? My Hon was holding a very responsible job as controller for a large company. So, You’re Ok, right?

At home I didn’t see dramatic changes – I truly did not have a clue that a storm was brewing.

The controller job was very demanding and he should have had an assistant – so it’s stress, right??

October 2001 Arrived home from work and we sat and visited. He said he had some news and hoped I wouldn’t mind but he was changing jobs – within the company. I was delighted to hear he would now be on maintenance in their warehouse. In the past, we had tossed around the idea of just “getting a no stress” new job somewhere so this was no shock at all. We celebrated!

I didn’t have a clue that the change was necessary. No one told me anything. Until November 2003.

It is good that you are writing about this. It will be helpful to others who are facing similar circumstances. You are very courageous and have such a wonderful attitude. I am sorry that your family is going through this, but your spirit is very comforting and inspiring! Thank you for sharing your heart with us. Although the circumstances are sad, it is sweet to read about two people who love each other so dearly, and that is the message I see clearly in your blog — that Love Conquers All.

Thanks, Trish. I hope that our story does help someone else. Personally, I didn’t have a clue – the doctor and I thought “stress”.

    Hi Jean,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m glad you did because now I’m here.

I’m going to take some time soon to dip into your archives. It’s very generous of you to share your experience of coping with the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, particulary when it affects someone you love so much.

    Mary

Thanks, Mary. I appreciate the visit. I’m going to try to tell the story in chronological order so it’s a bit confusing at first til I get my entries in proper order. I’m hoping it may help some family – I was totally clueless as to what was happening.
