A few nights ago I woke up totally freaked – my Man was not in bed. We had just gone to bed and I crashed. Flew to the entry and spied him in the kitchen with the cat! Buddy is very manipulative and probably bugged him til he got up – end result, to feed Buddy.
Then yesterday, I’m mowing the back yard and always leave him in the house reading. When I came in his keys “jumped” out at me – they were in the front entry door and the door was unlocked. Asked him if some person had come to the door. He looked out very intently and said, “No, I was looking for something but I can’t remember.” I’ve had a little post it note on the door saying to please lock the door, ah, well. Can never leave him again.
Had something sweet happen last night – he was going to feed the cat and couldn’t find the food. I told him to look for the label on the cabinet door – the food is in there. Still couldn’t find it. As I’m getting up to help, said “it’s the cabinet door beside the fridge.”
The sweet soul burst out laughing and said “Where’s the fridge?” Laugh or cry, right? Do a lot of both. I’m so fortunate he is so mellow and kind.
(About 3 weeks ago I asked him if it would help and would he mind if I taped a cat food label to the cabinet door to guide him. He was appreciative.)
Jean, bless your heart and his. He still has a sense of humor! You are right, you can cry or laugh. I am laughing right now but it’s bittersweet…
These are the times when I wish I had some profound wonderful statement to make it all better. Only God…may He minister to you both. I did laugh, and saw such a sweet side of him as you always mention, but I also see such a sweet side of you!
If we could try to find a bright spot in all of this, it would have to be the sweet humor. Thank God for that!
