After retirement, my Man and I intended to work side by side doing custom woodwork. I wish I could remember the name he chose for his company – I may find it in tax papers someday – I do recall it was very unique. He did a few jobs for people (while still working) and claimed it on the “unique company”.
Anyway, over the years, he collected a wonderful assortment of tools – the names of which I would not know! Ah, yes, I do recall a router – whatever that is or does. Obviously, he would have done the “routing”
He also hand prepared a work shop under our upper deck, digging out the earth and pouring cement.
Some days I go to “our” shop and sort through the various tools – some are rusted. I found his carpenters’ pencil which tugged at my heart – also, his leather tool belt and denim “Revy” apron. Brought them in to hold close.
I collected an assortment of tools and organized a tool box for myself. The hammer is my friend. Wish I could run his power drill – I will ask for help. Made up collections for our 2 sons, also.
The shop key waits – until I go to sit among our treasures.
So I’m a bit freaked – last night I dreamed I was Red Green’s wife – well, I do use duct tape a lot!
Today, I was working on my list getting rid of lots of “stuff’”. I came upon my note book box – splayed open. Computer son told me to keep it in case computer needed to be returned for repair. So I grabbed the duct tape and sealed the box before setting it on the storage shelves.
We send all our parcels by Greyhound Express – duct taped for safe arrival.
When the passage set broke in my hand last winter, I grabbed the duct tape to cover the hole so mice and various critters could not enter our domain when the cold winds howled. Yes, fear I am his wife – or at least a distant cousin:)
Dear God (reverently said), I miss my Man.
