Carrying two large bags of groceries, the stranger tripped on the curb, falling right in front of us – groceries scattered, bags torn. Clutching her knee in silence, she stayed on the ground. Over and over he asked if she were all right – then lifted her up as I gathered the groceries.
Turning around I saw the most tender sight – they were holding each other as she steadied herself against him. If only you knew -
We walked to her car and got her settled. After assuring us that she could drive, we watched her car disappear around the corner.
That evening he appeared with the ice bag I keep for all my aches and pains – “How’s your knee, Hon?”
What a strange and wondrous thing is the human mind.
Your hon was helping someone else, but was also helping you–and in his mind, you were the one injured, and he was solicitous.
I can’t see through the tears, so I will be short. You capture such sweet moments and love in a snapshot. I want you to know you are awarded the Nice Matters award on my blog today–Thanks for often making my day.
Love to you, Annette
