As I probably have mentioned before, usually my Man sleeps forever – til 3pm or even 5 if I don’t wake him. This morn I staggered out at 9am and guess who is sitting in his recliner reading the paper – the newspaper from the front step!
Lately I have been working very hard and crash. Last night I slept til 2am, got up til 4am and subsequently was so tired I didn’t hear him get up. Normally the slightest movement and I’m awake.
Fear gripped my heart “for what could have been” – especially going outside. Fear for a short circuit telling him to keep on walking. Now I’m in a pickle, as they say, do I hang our bells on the bedroom door? He would be a tad unhappy to discover my “system”.
By the way, we have a registry called “Home Again” which is a central data bank with vital stats, a recent pic, contacts, etc. Also, a bracelet to be worn – which he won’t – “I’m not that far gone.”
Anyway, the RCMP in Canada can quickly access the info if your loved one should decide to take an “unauthorized” walk and get lost or disorientated. Good program. Think I paid $25.00 to register and get the bracelet for the chiffonier drawer!
It was kind of funny when he refused to wear it, I zipped it in a jacket pocket. In a million years he’d never would have paid attention but he caught on right away, unzipped it and informed me he didn’t need it ( for the 2nd time, ha,ha).
Jean–it sounds like you are doing all you can, and also stretched to your limits.
I also read your post on Buddy–he sounds like a sweetie. I do mind so going to pick out a pet at the SPCA–cats especially seem to say “Me, me.” It breaks my heart to see them.
