Have spent hours getting ready for a fellow to come in and do some work for me. As I go thru the house, I see a plug-in missing it’s plate or a split in an edge that needs replacing.
I’ve had it so lucky for so many years that it really hits me. It’s not that the hired guy won’t repair it for me, it’s that my guy would have gone happily to his shop and had it done in minutes.
He’d come in the house, do the job and smile at me with, “Anything else?”
I can identify with that. After my husband died, I needed to call an electrician. Wow. I had never had a care in the world about things like that, but that day came. It’s hard.
Something about paid help that doesn’t quite fit the bill, eh. The work gets done, but what you miss is that willing smile.
It’s a change in your life and you are missing the familiar smile after a job well done. I understand.
Thinking of you and praying for you, every day.
