On a blistering 42 degree (C) day, another couple invited us on a day – long drive combining business and pleasure. On our way home, we stopped at a gift shop which also had wonderful ice cream.

The guy with us assured me he’d look out for W so his wife and I could shop a bit.

Moments later he was frantically searching for W, eyes as large as saucers. “Honestly, he was right beside me and now I can’t find him.” My heart sank but I told him to check the mens’ washroom and his wife to check the gift shop – I ran outside fearing he may have headed down the highway just feet away.

As I opened the door, saw him was calmly standing outside. Relief flooded thru me and I asked why he was out there. He told me it was too hot inside and came out to cool down. (This is on a 42 degree day)

Honestly people, they can be gone in a flash. If you entrust their care to someone, they have to perfectly understand speed and agility – physically he’s fit and at 66 looks 50. He’s fast and doesn’t mean to walk away – but it happens.

In this instance his brain must have “fired backwards” to make him think the outdoors would be cooler than the air conditioned building.
