“Waiting for Tech Support”
So withdrawal is no fun! We got set up again at 1pm but I wouldn’t go on til Brian left. I know how Buddy feels looking out the window at the birds – so close and yet so far:) We just took Brian to the airport – he flies at 8pm.
BTW, after thinking I could “diagnose” the problem, it appears all the tech had to do was unplug the wireless router and plug back in – agrrrh. Anyway, guess that’s good news but kind of embarrassing. So if you get a message that a cable is not connected, maybe check/unplug your wireless connection:) I did unplug the modem but not the router. I was contorted in unreal positions checking all the plugs – they have to redesign that! (I was kind of hesitant to unplug the router – hope computer son doesn’t read this post – I should have called him.)
When the tech came in the door, he said, “I haven’t seen you for awhile.” I detected a smile behind the mustache. He knows Mark’s occupation.
To sum up Brian’s visit – heart wrenching.
Thank heavens that my husband is a computer consultant. I had him upstairs one day, whining “I can’t access the Internet.” He unplugged the router and plugged it back in again. And I didn’t even have to pay for the visit! Glad you’re back at it; I love your picture on this post.
It’s my feeling that someone in the family has to become the tech expert by default if not by trade. So sorry Brian had to see the hardships you face with W. each day. It was important, though, I beleive. Sure glad you’re back. I’ve had exactly the same thing happen. And I called the tech guy too!
Hi – lucky you,Doc. It’s nice to have someone – I should have called Mark first. Actually, I love the pic and feel guilty using it because I never have to wait! He offered to come right away but we were busy with Brian. Annie, the visit was very difficult. Now you know to unplug/plug that silly router cable if there is a next time!
“To sum up Brian’s visit – heart wrenching.”
Would that account for him being extra sleepy? As in, not sleeping much the night before?
This is so hard to assimilate, and you, being with the situation daily, may not have noticed some of the little changes. It hits an occasional visitor like a hammer blow.

Heartwrenching. How sad that must be.
I’m glad I have a friend, who, even though he charges me a little, takes care of my needs. I’ve learned about the router thing while being with my son. His sometimes goes out, and he says, “Just unplug the router and start again.” And that usually works.
Oh, yes, the old unplug the router trick.
I have learned that one, and also one from my son–right click on the icon that shows you are connected (mine looks like a little computer screen with ))) coming out side. Then select “repair.” Sometimes that does the trick too. Seems the router can “lose” the IP address. Unplugging it makes it go looking for it.
Jean, we’ve been through the trials of computer problems, too. Not fun at all! I would be so happy to have a computer tech in the family or even next door.
Glad you are back – that photo made me laugh out loud!
