We saw our specialist today – one bit of wonderful news is that the province has decided to help pay for Aricept on”a three year experiment” and then see if it works. “Ask me, Mr. Premier. My husband would not be home if it were not for Aricept.”
Anyway, I am most grateful – we paid for it ourselves but a lot of patients maybe couldn’t and I’m so happy for them.
Aricept.com is a great site with all kind of info if you are in need of more info – - -
So Buddy, the cat, waddled onto the vet’s scale weighing in at 13lb.5oz. I cringed when the assistant laughed and tucked his tail on the scale – a few more ounces we didn’t need! The last visit, we were warned “I don’t want to see him coming in here at 12lbs.”
Wish you could understand, Doctor, that I have 2 problems – a begging cat who has no conscience, then his master who cannot remember he has just fed the cat. By the time my Man is about to put the food away, a very doleful, hungry looking beggar is gazing up with large, golden eyes.
“Be patient, Buddy, food’s coming right up.” Amen to that for the second time. (I hope he says grace because he should be very grateful for his luck – unless I’m on the scene to ruin all the fun.)
So! I’m getting kicked a lot at night – not on purpose – I wondered what was going on. Mentioned it to my Sis. She said feed him lots of water as maybe it’s leg cramps or Restless Leg Syndrome. (She’s a retired LTC nurse)
Yeah, Sis! I got 2 full glasses into him last evening and I think he didn’t kick as much – I get so used to it.
He is so funny – I put the glass of water out and he drinks like 1″. “Uh, Hon, you have to drink the whole glass”. He puts it to his mouth and mimics drinking and then turns to me smiling. I melt. What a card. He still is humorous with so much to deal with.
Well, yesterday raked leaves and today every muscle is complaining – in addition to the ones complaining previously!
Anyway, got to admit tend to feel sorry for myself when I’m out there alone but why? It’s good exercise, I can meditate, pray, sing (if the neighbors are away) and generally plan Life.
The house and yard are really too large for the 2 of us but I have a plan I’m thinking about. Instead of going out to work, I may have 2 students in for board and room. That would give me company and maybe I could get them to help and reduce their cost and wear and tear on my old bod.
Also, once home care does their assessment, I could still get out for running errands or lunching, etc.
Sounds like a plan – any comments?

We love omelette’s but mine are a disaster and I usually convince the person, he really wanted scrambled eggs! So, the only request I made of Brian was to make one.
Anyway, a few observations of his being in the kitchen:
(1) Washes often throughout his meal process
(2) Rarely uses the microwave but when he did, “finished it off” in the oven or toaster oven
(3) Always has the pot handles hanging out over the edge of the stove (cringe)
(4) Doesn’t make more than one meal’s worth – I always do!
(5) Heats his plates
(6) Everything is cut to precision size unlike his mother who cuts and chops and whacks vegs
(7) Towel always tucked in waist band – handy, I’ve started that.Look like a chef now!
(8) Tosses and flips the stuff in the pan (my new floor, my new floor!) but no accidents
(9) Usually we are treated to divine dinners but this visit was not the norm
