We are regulars at the local library. Often he just wants to buy their discards (at .25 what a deal!) but some days he realizes there is “a whole library of books out there” and suggests we check it out. It’s just so sweet as if he discovered ice cream.

Anyway, today he had 8 paperback novels and 2 hardcovers. Mercy, 2 week time frame til we need to return them. I spoke with the librarian on the side and asked her cooperation. When we come up to check out books, run only 4 thru and set the others aside. It’s work for her and I feel sorry but she seems happy to do it.

So far he has never caught on that the number he takes home is lower than what he chose. She never inquired about our “problem” and I can never get away on my own to explain. Maybe she just thinks I’m a controlling old bag, ha.

We jumped in the car and he proclaimed that when winter comes, he will have lots to read. Amen to that, Hon. (Remember all the ones at home in your office and in our bedroom.) Then of course, his classic, “You can never have too many books.”

Oh I agree. You can never have too many books, but I sympathize with the space problem, and the true reality of being able to track through so many in two weeks. Thank goodness, we can just check out some, and let others enjoy them also. Most of the stuff I read I can’t find at our library so I end up buying them. They are my one indulgence. Oh, I lie. I have many indulgences. They’re just my favorite. love you, annie

Most times you are a step ahead of him. I enjoy his zingers: “You can’t have too many books.”
