For several years, our dental office staff would do “oral hygiene instruction” or home care as part of his regular checkups.

After his appointment I’d ask.”So, who cleaned your teeth?”
“Don’t know.”
“A man or a lady?”
“Sorry, Hon, I don’t remember.” (This is 2 minutes later)

I’m sure the staff would be blown away by this. Anyway, as you can imagine, oral hygiene home care is very difficult to accomplish.

It was so sweet. One morn I asked if he had brushed. “Don’t know.”
“Feel your toothbrush. Is it wet or dry?”

“Dry.”

“Ok, how about brushing?”

“Is tonight OK?” Noooooooooooo (inside) but somehow I got him to do it.

Something that always impresses me is that he comments he loves getting his teeth polished. Says they feel so good. Personally, I would have thought that would be bothersome to him.

Just received a call from our good friend in the East. She said her ex (my man’s best buddy in high school and as adults) doesn’t call as he doesn’t know what to say.

Just say, “Hi, how are you, been thinking of you.” Nothing has changed in friendship.

Anyway, it thought it was interesting – I guess people do worry how to deal with things.

I often wonder where he “is” in his journey. Today was rather telling. I parked outside the garage so he could see better to top up the wiper fluid. Handed him the jug and I popped the hood. He opened the hood (very well – usually cannot) then walked around the driver’s side heading to the trunk – looking intently here and there.

One would wonder why I kind of feel embarrassed for him and try to gloss over what is happening.

I called to him and said to come and show me how to do it – then grabbed the jug and started filling the reservoir. He wanted to check the oil but could not find the dip stick. I lied and told him he checked it a couple days ago – he was all happy with that.

Mercy, mercy, mercy.
