Years ago, when W was still working, he would meet me in town after my staff Christmas luncheon. Our dental office preferred to bail out at 1pm on the last day and have a late lunch at a ritzy place.

Ritzy it was but the serving sizes did not do the trick for me. At 5pm, W would meet me in town and we did a bit of shopping and then had dinner!

The girls used to tease me about this.

After he couldn’t drive any longer, I would hurry through the grocery store for a few items and go home to him. The first year was very difficult.

Was chatting with chef son tonight and mentioned about W’s friend being uncomfortable phoning. He suggested we call “just to say hi”. Then our friend would know W still carries on a good conversation – as long as questions aren’t asked.

I wonder if I should. In September I called him just to say hello and his secretary said we missed him by 5 minutes. Told her who we were and that it was not an emergency, etc. She promised to give the message. I’m sure she did.

Anyway, got up this morn to find the key in the door again. My own fault for not checking after we got home last night. After so many years living with Alzheimer’s, one would think I would be more aware. Thought of taking his key but he needs one for emergency and also, he likes unlocking the door for me.

Chef sent money for Dad and I to enjoy dinner on him. W was very touched – I think I’ll get the server to take our pic as a remembrance.

Hope Everyone had a good day!
