On Boxing Day I decided to wash a load of white towels, etc. All went well.

Laundry is fun on Boxing day so I tossed in another load – darks.

When I opened the machine, the tub was completely coated – with oil, I assume. Someone had to be guiding me as to which load to wash first!

The machine must have blown a gasket (me, too). Anyway, I thought terrible thoughts and washed the machine out, filled it with bleach and soapy water to make sure it was clean, started it up again. The noise – sounded like rocks in there.

So, I’m assuming it’s a mechanical problem (duh) – am missing my man so much right about now. He could fix anything. I didn’t call a repair guy yet.

Actually, I didn’t even get upset. What’s to gain? Life seems to go much more smoothly if I deep breathe – - – you faint and forget your problems.

PS Any thoughts on front loader washers, anyone?

Well, I’m tired of the snow. The only good thing is that it burns calories and gets me outside in the glorious sunshine.

Our “3 car wide” drive is now about 1.5 or 2 cars wide. I’m too tired to toss the snow higher so the drive gets narrower!

Walked around the yard a bit but the snow’s almost too deep for my boots. I checked out the back yard and filled bird feeders, tossed hen scratch out for the quail, hung seed bells.

The ducks “vacuum” up the seed as fast as I put it down so I sprinkled some around cedars, etc. to give the little birds a fighting chance from the ducks. Except for eating it all, the large and small birds live in perfect harmony – unlike humans!

When I took the pic of the clay pot, was reminded that I should have brought it in for winter. A little too late now.

(When I came in from shoveling, I was surprised to see W up. Told him I just finished shoveling the driveway. His reply was, “I know, watched you.” He never would have done that years ago. Told him he was lucky I didn’t know he was up or would have been out there with me.)

For NY Eve W&I are spending a quiet evening at home.

I bought (!) chicken lasagna and will have lots of vegetable and coleslaw with it.

We may watch a movie or a hockey game or just listen to music.

(If you want to join us for our “wild” night, you are welcome.)

What are you doing for New Year’s Eve?
