You’re so thoughtful and loving even with your daily struggle

At night you ask if I have enough covers

Or, “do you have enough room cause I can move over”

You carry the groceries – all the bags at once – I say they are too heavy and you just smile back at me

The promise to help with housework “when you retire” flows from your lips often

Shall I put a fire on? Yes, my Love, we’ll have a fire – which you can no longer build

You offer to help change the bed, comforter down then ask where we put the sheets

You wonder when Mark and MiHwa will be home from Seoul and then we phone them at home making you so content

The library is your haven and “you can never have too many books” to quote you

Brian calls and you worry he’ll be soaked walking to work – he assures you he’s fine

Your eyes light up when I tell you we’ll go looking at second hand shops – you are seeking the rare Hitchcock book

“This is really cute – I may have read it to you before – tell me if I have.” (Yes, Hon, about 2 minutes ago for the 5th time but I’d never tell you – I’m so glad you can still read.)

You end our day with, “Good night, sleep tight” and if you’re in a funny mood, add “don’t let the bedbugs bite” and then laugh knowing it gives me the creeps

I could go on and on – - -

Last night we were sitting by the fire – the table between our chairs was covered with books. I suggested maybe he should keep 2 or 3 books and put the rest on shelves.

“I don’t have many books.”

“You have at least 10 here and hundreds more.”

“Where.”

“On the book shelves in your office – you built those shelves.”

“I do!?”

He didn’t remember the shelves, books or his office. I flipped on a light. His face lit up like Christmas morn.

Slip sliding’ away, my Love.

Hasn’t been a terrific start to the year 2008. Computer issues, took my laptop (under warranty) to a place authorized by HP.

They charged me $40. “to take it in” which I paid. Told them the problem and the guy said if it’s not the wireless card (as Mark told me), HP would charge me “big money”. The rep also said it sounded like software so he should go over it and do blah, blah, blah.

I called Mark from the store and asked if he had done a back up even tho he told me he had. After I hung up, the guy said, “What did he back up?” – Well, I didn’t know – anything important, I would assume. He said it will be wiped clean so better make sure and it’s $80./hr and not sure how long it will take. Told him to go ahead. (Instead of calling Mark for a 3rd time at work!)

Now Mark calls me to see how I made out. He was very disgusted they charged me as it’s a warranty issue, HP would not charge me “big money” and he was a tad shy of honest about the back up thing. He asked the store name and name of person. Phoned them and after a discussion, told the guy to just send the computer back to HP and don’t touch it.

Grateful for a son who looks after mom long distance – thank you again.

Not grateful for a store which took money they should not have.

Miss my Man at times like this but thank God (reverently spoken) that I have Mark for these computer issues.
