It is time for me to subscribe to an emergency alert “necklace”. If I were to break my leg, we’d be in a real mess til someone found us. Tonight Buddy caught his nail in one of the few pieces of carpet left in our house. We tried for 10 minutes to release him. In desperation, we cut about an 8″ circle of carpet in order to work on him. I put the cat in the cage which seemed to help settle him but every movement caused pain and cries. We had to call our vet out – she was such a dear.
It’s very difficult to have a “situation” trying to tell W “to get or do”. He didn’t know where the back door was – told him go there and get your gloves. It’s no use to say turn left or right as he doesn’t know that. Now, try to explain about the scissors in the roll top and which drawer they are in.
I finally carried the cat, piece of carpet attached, and told him to get his cage from the laundry room -”Where’s the laundry room?”
It’s nearly impossible to believe the extent of disability – I live with it every day and think I don’t notice how bad it is – you just get thru the day until something like this happens. Eye opener. I’m still a bit stressed just from watching W not function.
(As we were leaving the clinic, W turned around and thanked her over and over.)
The washer spewed oil all over on the 26th – we ordered a new one to be delivered Jan.10
When the floors were laid, I had the guys move my bookcase into the laundry area from the back entry. Seven shelves full.
So I guess you can see where this post is going – tonight had to empty the bc and place all the books in the dining room – it’s 3/4″ too deep to let the old machine be removed and new one in place. Grrr.
Shouldn’t even think it, but if the dryer goes, probably same scenario. Oh, well, burned a few calories. Have to ask my neighbor to help me move it so maybe it will return to it’s original place in the back entry. W made this shelving unit for me in 1990 for my cookbooks.
Actually, W helped me but it’s very confusing for him, setting books all over the place. He asked if I’d like help and there’s no way I’d ever decline.
