He loves a good steak and has a favorite place.
Four of us enjoyed dinner – we all had steak.
After getting home, we sat down to relax. I said what a good evening it was.
“I always enjoy my evenings with you.”
So I mentioned what a good meal it was.
“You always cook me a good dinner.”
Dropped the subject and an hour later he said, “Doug really enjoyed his steak.”
(Nothing shocks me now but back in 04, this was unreal to me that he could forget his night out and the fact we had steak just a couple hours ago.)
Amazing about this here again gone again recall. The other day, after a long and good discussion about a book I was reading and an update on my son’s college life, my mom sighed.
“I always wished I’d had kids.”
“What would’ve been different?”
“They would’ve visited me.”
“And who do you think I am?”
“Judy? My good friend Judy.”
“I’m actually you’re daughter.”
She was so happy to rediscover me as daughter. Then we picked up previous thread about son’s trials and adventures during freshman year.
Other worldly at times, isn’t it?
Oh, my gosh. But to be considered a friend is pretty special – I’m glad she was happy to rediscover you.
It is “other worldly” and no one understands (really) until you are there.
Mom’s so lucky to have you and your visits.
