This is the first Valentine’s that we have not exchanged cards – being he can’t write a note in it or sign it, it’s easier this way.

I remember my first Valentine’s evening with him – we had met 3 weeks before – he arrived to pick me up and as I got my coat he slipped a heart shaped box of chocolates and a card on the entry table. Didn’t see it.

As I was getting in his car, my Mom called out that my doc was on the line -thought I better take the call as often we had evening emergencies. Actually, she just was all excited to point out the surprise, which now wasn’t.

Couldn’t be angry with her, she never could keep a secret:)

Happy Valentine’s everyone – hope you have a love in your life!!!

Had our painter at the house yesterday for what should have been 2 day’s work. He put in a good day and I planned to have him back Friday for a full day. After dinner, we went to his den/office to just sit and visit. What a mess – when he pulled his tape off, he ruined the paint/gyproc underneath and left with out telling me. This is on 4 walls and doorways.

I don’t play games – called him and asked if he “realized” what had happened. “Yeah, I told W.”
He has known us and painted for us since Oct. 05 – various jobs including the whole interior, has known my man for maybe 15 years and is aware he has Alzheimer’s. “Why would you tell W? Please deal with me, W doesn’t remember 10 seconds after you tell him something.”

Now the kicker: “He seems OK to me, he talks and walks and watched TV and played with his cat.”

I canceled his Friday and told him to make up his bill – paid him this morning. To add insult to injury, he suggested W somehow took his screwdriver set and “just put it somewhere – when you find it in some drawer someday, let me know.”

There was more but to suggest my man would steal his stuff is ludicrous plus W is asleep most of the time he is here – and the painter’s tools are right by him.
