He loves humor – the other day I bought him a book, ” A Thousand Clean Jokes.”
There are some really funny ones – he sits here reading and all of a sudden bursts out laughing. I tell him to read me any he thinks are good.
He starts reading, loses his place, circles his finger all over the page and then announces he has found it again. Except, it is the previous funny one he read.
We share it together again – and again.
But as I said once, I’m happy he is still able to read. I think this “losing his place” thing may be the start of reading problems.
I got a recipe card to help him but he was slightly miffed. “Mercy, I don’t need that, my eyes are good.”

For several years it’s been difficult for him to handle money.
He was buying books the other day and needed a quarter – I was pleased he could get a quarter from his handful of change. Then he noticed his loonies and a toonies, “What’s this and this?”
“Oh, they’re just loonies and toonies.”
The sales lady gave us “the look” – don’t dare say a word!
Think now I’ll leave quarters in his pockets and pull out the others – maybe he has forgotten how Canada, in it’s wisdom, created them:)
