Life seems to present in a way that is so difficult at times – not only me – we all have our burdens. I am blessed to have had 33 years with him til our diagnosis. I was reading recently about a gentleman who killed his wife – he could no longer handle the situation.
Not to worry, I am not at this point at all – I just wanted to express my condolences to the gentleman who could no longer deal with his situation.
I guess I should not have posted this but have a heavy heart for him. I wonder what/if support he had.
My father took care of Mom for years – she was bedridden. Finally, the last 2 weeks, he had nurses in 24 hours a day.
So our son is a chef in a high end hotel. After brunch, we often sit in the lobby watching the “high rollers” fly out the door. What really amazes and amuses me is how the men pass their bill to the concierge – palm to palm, one fluid motion, neither missing a beat. I envy that and he (the C) loves that.
After much thought (!), I now at least have it ready as I approach him, sweat on my brow. One time I dropped it and we fairly knocked each other out fighting to retrieve it. “finders keepers”
The stories he could tell. Anyway, one time after our “incident”, Chef came flying by on his way to change to street clothes.
“Hey, Mr. Concierge, have you met my mom?”
“Oh, yes, thank you.”
Hey, was that a smile or a smirk:)
(We are hoping to book this spring and I’m practicing already – or I’m asking to use the staff exit.)
Not sure how others deal with getting their spouse to eat fruit or even vegs between meals. I have discovered a way – I peel or cut up one piece for each of us, put it in separate fruit nappies and very casually offer it, “here you go.” He’s never refused yet.
After weighing him, see he has lost 7 pounds. Now each meal will be dense with the best nutrients I can plan.
We have a cool, beautiful sunny day going here so hope to get out for a bit of shopping and walking!
