I have put small lamps in every room downstairs. When we sit by the fire, he’ll get up to find a book or go to the washroom and is lost basically every time. Add darkness to the equation and it must be scary.

My solution was to buy those $10.00 lamps at Wal-*art and put one in every room or area – I just have 15 watt bulbs but it’s enough for him to find a doorway, etc again. Actually, I found a lovely candlestick lamp for $4.00 at a thrift shop.

Another real confusion is 2 or 3 way switches. What a curse to him now. The only solution I can think of is to use a felt marker as Annie suggested – but then the world can see so I hesitate.

We took our back deck lights off the railing today, no, we haven’t been lighting them!
It was kind of sweet – he was a bit grumbly about having to help. I was chatting away trying to get his mind off the chore at hand.

He started to laugh and said, “Someone twisted these on backwards.” (I am left handed)

“Well, you don’t pay your help very well so that’s what you get.”

Anyway, we still have lots of snow and he looked over the decks, “We may as well leave them up, we already have snow – we’ll just have to put them back up soon.”

Ah, my Love.

I’m not sure how aware he is of his disease these days. I do know that he is aware that “it may be wrong.”

Last night as we were heading up to bed, he stood up from his chair, wheels turning.

Finally he looked at me and said, “I guess this is the best way upstairs, is it?”

I find it sadly sweet.
