“You’ve never been there, have you?”
It’s unreal or surreal but not real to have these conversations. Again, I had the albums out, this time our last visit to the East. We poured over pages and pages – he was delighted to see all the familiar sites – and pictures of the two of us together.
I hopped onto the Westjet site to check shortest flight times. Seriously, I hoped we could go back, rent a place for a few months and really enjoy. My precious neighbor said, “Go! We’ll keep watch on your home and yard.”
Came home and made my lists while he slept. There is a lot of planning to do for a time frame like this. It is all organized, we looked at the pictures and then he dropped the bomb. I wonder if it’s worth the cost and effort – he would enjoy it “at the moment” so that’s good.
Right now my mind is whirling. Next year could be too late or maybe today is too late – I’m really in a turmoil. Seeing the specialist in April. Have to call our sons, too.
It sounds so awful but is the effort worth it when he doesn’t remember, should we just go and enjoy – I worry it could be too much for him as even the flight in ’04 was very stressful. Would he miss his cat and demand to come home?
