I have been tossing and sorting and keeping and tossing. You know how it goes – unless you’re good and not bad as I am!
Anyway, it took great restraint to not keep my old, broken down laundry basket. I had it sitting by the recycling bag – he came along – “Do you want me to fix that for you?”
My precious man, are you back? I was so excited. Anyway, he asked me for electrical tape and proceeded to tape it together. Now, how can I throw that away – he has never even thought to fix or offer for so, so long.
After he finished, he smiled his smile of days gone by and happily sang, “just like new when we get thu” then laughed and laughed, handing me the basket.
(He couldn’t really manage the job but it’s precious junk to me now!)
His Christmas cactus is blooming again – it seems to burst with blooms about every 3-4 months. The last bloom was Nov. and finished just before our Christmas guests arrived.
This plant is very important to him as he “won” it at a Christmas luncheon Dad invited us to.
It’s getting increasingly difficult for him to look after it but I encourage him to water it.
When I woke up to open the gates, I glanced over at him. He was sleeping with his glasses on. I know he removed them last night. Looked around and the ensuite light was on (which would normally wake me), his power drill was on top our headboard along with 23 paperback books.
Somehow, he quietly slipped out of bed and went down to his den, got the books, found the power drill and came up, got into bed and I heard nothing.
Totally freaked me out. Calling locksmith tomorrow for extra locks and and will check with a security company if I can find an alarm/ beam type thing for our bedroom door.
I know he is very quiet and I try to face our hallway to the bedroom when I’m up – he has walked up to me and scared me half to death more than once. It’s not on purpose – he will be holding Buddy, smiling at me.
We went to bed at midnight and couldn’t sleep til 2am. It was on my mind that the company was coming to spray the fruit trees and I hadn’t unlocked the gates. I woke up at 5am (thinking it was Monday!), jumped into some pants, sandals and a high collared coat. Heavy frost crunched between my toes so my journey was very quick. Being my hair was wild and woolly, I pulled the collar up hoping to not meet our neighbor Rob as he jumped in his truck.
Unlocked the gates, grabbed our newspaper, sat down to check the headlines under the date: Sunday March 9th – could have cried.

Dinner was great! They arrived with 2 big baskets laden with food and even the cooking pots. Knowing them, if the van were licensed, I’m sure they would have used their stove, too!
They brought their home made spaghetti sauce, the spaghetti, salad, buttered buns, ice cream and peaches! Delicious – and really wonderful as there is enough for tonight – I won’t cook again today.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
What is really wonderful, I didn’t need to get him up, dressed and ready to go out. We did that earlier and then he slept til they arrived. Perfect – so much easier on me – hate to admit that – but they know.
