Last night we were in bed – sleep, please sleep – it’s 1:30am.
I whispered to him, “Still awake? What are you thinking about?”
He was recalling his basketball coach from high school days. I guess the guy told him he could “dribble like the devil” so go with it.
Not exaggerating, I’ll bet I heard the story 20 times, over and over. The last time he told it to me, he asked me, “His name was Mr. ***, wasn’t it?”
Surprisingly, in our nearly 43 years of marriage, I had never heard it before – so I guess the 20 repetitions made up for the past years:)
“You can let the water out now, Hon.”
I hear it running but there is an eerie silence – that “mother instinct” – remember?
So I go back to the bath and he’s sitting upright in the tub, water is slowly lowering.
He looks up at me, “I’m going to be sitting here forever.”
Poor guy thought he had to sit in the tub til it emptied.
A thousand things to remember or try to remember:)
Today is not a good day – I believe another “step” down. He no longer wishes to watch Fraz*er – formerly the only sitcom that he enjoyed. So far, he will still watch the news.
We visited the library, still a favorite place, and he bought books again – (You can never have too many books. Yeah, I know, Hon)
Susannah put a challenge up to write a 6 word memory – I have wonderful ones of my parents taking us on summer holidays.
One year, my parents, sister, brother and pets all jammed into a coupe – the mommy cat had just had kittens and Dad thought better to take her & her family! Of course, Sport, our dog, loved his new extended feline family so he came along, also. The cats snuggled up to Sport, we found a place where we could and a very “interesting” family took off to visit Grandpa.
When we stopped for gas, the guy looked in the back seat and asked,”Do I see what I think I’m seeing?” Poor Mom.
I remember cuddling up on the floor, which was fun, not a hardship. Sis would have been a teenager so probably sat primly on the seat and maybe (3 year old) brother sat on Mom’s lap.
My 6 words:
Traveled with one dog, three cats!
(I do have a pic but no time right now to scan it – I will, though)
