Took pictures on our “walk” today – the whole thing took only 5 minutes and I put him in the car as I did laps – too cold a wind blowing. The wire protects the tree trunks – deer?
Hope you enjoy.
He peered out from his place at the table – “Someone’s at the door.”
I left the hot cross buns in the toaster oven thinking it’s our neighbor and I’d tell her to come on in.
With a gesture of conciliation, I faced the lady who had woken me several weeks ago pushing tracks thru my door. She stood, a lovely arrangement in hand.
“We realize we woke you and feel badly. Please accept these flowers from us to let you know we understand why you were upset with us.” Fair enough.
I thanked her, accepted them and turned to go in – she started – “You know, someone may call again, your house number is not showing. Yes, I see the note on the door to not ring or knock but just so you understand, someone may come because your house number is not visible. Also, I’d like you to understand we knocked at 9:45 am, not 8:45am – you hadn’t turned your clock ahead.”
Lady, I hadn’t got to sleep til 5:30am – all I know is that I was running on about 3 hours sleep, DLS Time or whatever. I thought this – should have said it.
She offered a few more words of wisdom – then I heard in the background, “Something’s burning.” The hot cross buns!
I left her standing there, toaster and I both billowing smoke from within.
Shirl brought a lovely Easter basket to our place this morn! It was so nice as is the first year I didn’t make a basket up for Easter. We visited and dreamed and drank tea.
He got up about 5:30pm and shortly after, M&M called – home from their Easter vacation in Victoria. Dad is so confused and thinks they were in Seoul, although in the next breath talks about their being in Victoria.
He also thinks they are on their way home – home, home, meaning here. So I think he understands now that they are home, home in Vancouver. Have I confused you yet?
Hope everyone had a nice day with family or friends.
He saw our neighbor through the kitchen window and decided to visit. The fellow had blown all the pine needles from under the huge trees and was resting. (He’s in his 80′s)
So I unlocked the door and led him to the corner of the garage, pointed at Ken and let him go visit. It was good I could watch from the kitchen window – as he left to come back, had no idea where “home” was – I went out and walked him back.
We had our breakfast, got our coats on and walked!
Over the years living with Alzheimer’s, it seems to me that stages are not a gradual slope of decline but steps. There doesn’t seem to be a reason for the start of another decline.
This (wonderful) reversal of feelings about walking puzzles me. I wonder if it’s some clarity where, in an area of the brain, cells are communicating properly. Believe, I’m not trying to question it to death, I just wonder if the cells can somehow “work” again.
We walked the lake shoreline on a damp composty path – love the smell of the lake shore. Right now I’m happy with the 10 minutes of company – could press for another lap but maybe that would jinx it.
Tomorrow I will take pictures of our little route – it’s scenic and very quiet walk.
Happy Saturday, Everyone, my heart is singing.
