Just read an article about Roger Ebert’s loss of ability to speak following surgery.
Apparently he could have further surgery(to try) to allow him to speak again but he says. “I should be content with the abundance I have.”
And I sit here whining at times – - -
Oh my, I read about the surgery and the possiblity of surgery to restore his voice, but I hadn’t read that last statement.
It does make one think, doesn’t it.
I tried to find the article but can’t remember where I saw it.
We have a friend who couldn’t speak for ten years, due to complications from a surgery, and he just got Botox injected and can speak again. I wonder if Mr. Ebert would benefit from that. I know that wasn’t your point, but it makes me want to write him to say not to give up. I agree-we can be content with our abundance, but sometimes action is in order if you can restore quality of life. Obviously we all don’t have those choices. Love, A
