I decided to strip out his bathroom as he had fallen asleep on the bed in the guest room.

Had a kitchen catcher handy to toss all the old toiletries in – I came across his “Obsess*on” – it brought back so many memories for me. He was no longer using it the last year he worked – I think he just forgot to.

Lifted the cover off – it just gave me major goosebumps – I loved the fragrance and it was “him”.

Tossed it in the bag – I don’t want to go thru that again.
***I got it back out of the trash. I decided there were a lot of nice memories attached to it. Every morn, just before leaving for work, we’d hug goodbye and I remember saying, “Mmm, you smell so nice.” So, it’s back in his vanity – surprisingly, it hasn’t “turned” after several years – still as good as ever!

Certain scents and aromas certainly can bring up a multitude of memories. I understand.

That is one of my favorites. I bought it for mr .kenju and then used it myself! LOL I like it better than the one for women. Now mr. kenju has decided that he is allergic to scent, and I can’t use any when I’m around him. He also complained about favric softeners with scent, so I have to buy the non-scented ones.

It is amazing how fragrances can bring back memories. Obsession for women was one I simply could NOT wear when I was pregnant. Sorry! It was a favorite but now my first thought is morning sickness! We are all different! Much love to you!

Scents are truly memorable. A few years ago, I tossed a bottle of Chanel No. 5 that was given to me when I was a teen from my parents. Now I regret it although I’d never wear it.

I read and applaud your blog every day. I cringed when you said you threw away the Obsession. My happy sigh was audible when I read that you got it back out of the trash.

You did the right thing by retrieving it…Scent is a powerful memory-maker. IMO, they are almost like photographs — a glimpse of the past, a memory, a treasure. Thinking of you and praying for you!

Yup, my hubby’s Old Spice (now how about that for an ooooooold fragrance), as well as his Escape remain on the bedroom dresser.
I also went to throw them out one day, but changed my mind when I smelled them. Still smelled good, although I thought they would be rancid.

I’m so glad you got it back out! Mary, Chanel #5 is my favorite! Why won’t you wear it?
