Lobsters came up in a chat with a friend – yummy. Reminded me of our many trips East – difficult to believe but we were getting tired of lobster about the 3rd week! Now what I wouldn’t give for a good old lobster dinner.
We may possibly go back this August or Sept. It would be great for my man and I really love it, too. Originally, I had planned to rent something and stay the summer but I think that may not be the best idea.
Anyway, the whole point of the post was to recall our bringing cooked, whole lobsters home by air! Due to “not quite honest” handlers, everyone carried their prize box on board as carry on luggage. Not sure if that would be allowed these days.
His childhood, best friend, owns two lobster pounds – anything he ships does arrive for they dare not steal commercial goods – but you check a cooler or box of lobster (as a passenger) and it has a good chance of gracing a handler’s table, not yours! Apologies to the honest ones out there.
Our friends called again last night assuring us anytime, date is Ok – thank you!
If we did not have family out West, I would move back. He would certainly enjoy his little village again and has many friends and relatives there.
When we were back in ’04, I mentioned it was a nice thought to move. Dave excused himself, was away a bit, came back and said he had a job for me – at the local dentist’s practice – and that beautiful, old home is for sale – a 3 story heritage, refinished for $80,000, on the ocean. How tempting.
But, we’re still here, landlocked and lobsterless!
Oh yeah – fresh lobster. Makes my mouth water. Hope you get away this summer. It will be a treat!
Getting tired of lobster, oh my, poor you. The vision of the fam toting lobsters on to the plane is a good one. Did they start to smell en route?
I haven’t had lobster for eons! Back in our salad days, when we had more moolah than sense, we often went to a local seafood place and had lobster. I can conjure up the taste now. I had lobster ravioli last year, and it was wonderful, but it isn’t fresh lobster, is it?!
Wendy, you’re nice and close for a trip East for a feast!
No, Doc, they are packed in ice. Can you imagine the cabin if not – everyone had boxes (about 7″ x 15″) of lobster tucked under their seats!
Kenju, W’s aunt apologized that she only had a lobster potato salad for lunch!!!
When hubby and I made a trip to Maine, fresh lobster was indeed the highlight….can’t beat it.
