Last evening as we were about to leave for home (a 30 minute drive), he got up and looked around as if searching for something. I went over to him – he wanted the bathroom.
I was headed downstairs, so said to use that one as Shirl has all her stuff in the main bath.

“I’ll just wait til I get home.”

Then it dawned on me that he couldn’t find the bath downstairs. I led the way and all was well. Could kick myself as many times in the past, I’d ask if he needed to use the bathroom before we headed home – always got a no.

So simple a problem but so stupid of me to not catch on earlier – years earlier.

Poor guy. I feel for you. You can’t beat yourself up, although I can imagine how you feel.

Beverly is right – no sense beating yourself up. This is such a learning experience.
After my mom’s stroke, Dad asked her to get something from the kitchen. She looked funny for a moment and then said “I don’t remember where the kitchen is?”
    He was dumbfounded!
They had lived in that house for 40 years, bringing up all of us kids. Poor Dad couldn’t imagine Mom not remembering where the kitchen was.
Life really throws us curves, doesn’t it?
