You know the saying – today I phoned my very helpful neighbor, Brenda, and asked if she needed anything at the store – leaving in 10 minutes. She really needed to go, so against my better judgment, I left him sleeping, unplugged door bell and turned phone off. The store’s about 5 minutes drive and told her we’d hustle home ASAP. She knows.
She bought her items and just in conversation, asked her if she got everything. “Yes, except the pearl onions -and I know ***store doesn’t have them as I phoned earlier. I don’t care but Jim really loves them.” Told her Jim would have his onions.
Didn’t say anything but drove to the little produce store -luckily they had them.
When we picked our mail up, she opened a card, saying it was from her aunt. “Is it your anniversary today!!!”
So, she got her onions to make a special beef recipe he loves. I’m glad I took the time, although I worry about leaving him – in fact, never do.
I think Someone prodded me today and watched over him while we shopped. ***What makes this little story so special is that she no longer drives for medical reasons. Happy anniversary to a lovely couple with hearts of gold.
Oh Jean–this is a wonderful story. Sometimes, we do the right things by happenstance–and all is well. Thankfully it was for you (and for Brenda).
It’s really nice to be an angel for someone, and you were surely hers today!
What a special outing that you were able to have today…..
How lovely to be able to give back in such a small, yet significant, way. You made her day.
Aww – that’s so sweet. Glad everything turned out well for all.
