“Is it hot out”?

“Yup, 34 degrees.”

“That’s hot, right? Do you want to go for a walk?”

“Yes, pretty hot. Do you still want to go for a walk?”

“Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh” – he sounded puzzled

This from a man who would never walk (since diagnosis). The care aides have been taking him and maybe he discovered he likes it! Every day, even every hour is something new.

***The heat must have done me in – I’m sorry how I wrote that original – he asked me if I wanted to go for a walk. Being it was so, so hot, I thought I better at least “warn” him. He still wanted to go and we did.
A nice touch to our walk, we met our lovely neighbor and her faithful dog – so he got a visit with them both.

I won’t forget a nice moment last night. He wandered into the kitchen while I was emptying the DW. “Anything I can help you with?”

Handed him the cutlery basket – he struggled but got everything put away.

She arrived at the door, laughing and full of life. “Hi, guys, I’m *****.”

I left, knowing he was in good hands. It’s a “puzzle” (in a good sort of way) – Wayne doesn’t question why or how come he’s home and I’m going. I kind of wonder if he’s pulled the wool over my eyes, also, and is further along in his journey – God forbid.

So far, I’ve done “worky/errands/shopping”. Soon, I’ll be able to use the days for myself. Being we are a good 25 minutes from the city, I really have to roar around to get my errands done. I have from 11:15am to 3:15pm but I always get home 10 minutes early to let them tell me about their day. Although I’m ready when they arrive, I hate dashing out so lose about 10 minutes there.

As days go by, I’ll probably fly out the door and arrive out of breath at 3:10pm!

It’s been a wonderful, wonderful time. Today my cell phone battery crashed upon firing it up so I spent 40 minutes in total waiting in line, being served. I happily left the store, bought groceries and tried to use the new phone – dead as a duck! Back to the store, eating up another 30 minutes.
