We chatted a bit about nothing, then, “Would you rather have him in or at home?”
In my unusual tongue tied manner, I said, “Home, I love him!”
Sorry, Doc, forgot all about the Anne Landers quote:)
Why in the world would anyone ask me that?
Why in the world can’t I just tell them I feel it’s so inappropriate? I tell you, World, someday Grandma Jean will blow a cork and it’s not going to be pretty – uh, probably not.
Why – - – Last similar conversation was with a woman, this one with a gentleman. I have decided it’s b/c they are uncomfortable so maybe can’t think of something to say. We were talking about holidays so nothing about “A” had come into it.
Jean, who ARE these people?!?!
You always manage to take the gracious way out, which is probably the best for all concerned.
However, how about asking him whether his wife (girlfriend, significant other) would rather have HIM “in” or at home??? Yep, right now, with no AD diagnosis in sight. HER answer might surprise him!
Just tell yourself, “Tomorrow, I’LL still be lovely and well-mannered!”
Love, Laura
