I turned the water off about 8:15pm and no sooner done, all the little robins came – pecking at the sprinkler, tilting their little robin heads, “What happened to the water, Ma?”
There were no birds around the sprinkler while it’s going – we felt awful to see them wanting water. I do have a birdbath in the garden but these are rather young ones who may not have found it. The mature ones sure enjoyed it but they seemed to have gone.
Also, I noticed the quail squat down low – I guess when they are hot – I’ve never seen that before either. Tomorrow I’ll buy a dish for them – they like it under our towering cedars.
Just got word that our friend is very near the end of her journey. She has been in hospital since the 25th of June.
The four of us met over 28 years ago and the 3 worked together for years.
Now, I have told Wayne that she is ill and, when we discussed it, he said he wanted to attend her funeral.
I’m torn but think it’s best for him to go, in that he’ll see lots of people he knows and also pay his respects – in the next thought, I think, “No.”
I’ll fax our MD, he is so terrific and gives me a call back.
Again, any suggestions/opinions?

I have decided it’s time to rid our house of (some) the extras – and I do mean we have extras. We have 3 computer desks, our antique rolltop, his office desk. So, I guess you get the picture of our (my) over indulgence during almost 43 years together.
Anyway, just gave one computer desk away, from 1989, first home pc. That computer was over $3000.00, if you can imagine.
At Easter time 2007, Mark was here visiting and we bought my laptop (no crawling around wires). Still have our “ma and pa” desks and computers downstairs.
The point of my post is that I feel it’s difficult to get rid of his desk (for sentimental reasons) – he has not been able to use it for a long time. The monitor will be taken to recycling and the hard drive removed. Should I sell my desk, also? Seems it would be kind of mean to take one and not the other – and I hate crawling around cables!!!
As usual, I ask your valued opinions, what would you do?
