I am the queen of too much stuff, Jean. I realize that I need to start thinning out, but it is hard.

If he has not been able to use the desk and won't again, I'd get rid of it. He may not even remember it was there when it is gone. If you will use yours again, then keep it.

Do you think he would miss it? I am all for decluttering, just wrote a post about it, but there is more here than getting rid of clutter. There are his memories of things in certain places. But you know better than anyone whether he would even know something was gone. This has got to be so hard for you.

Jean, our little 10' by 12' den has packed into it my Mom's computer desk, my Dad's "home office" desk, my grandmother's antique writing desk, an antique school desk, 2 filing cabinets, grandkids' toy box, dog bed, a small couch and our "main" TV!!

My Mom isn't ready to get rid of Dad's desk, and that's okay with me. If making changes is too stressful, or you just don't feel "ready," don't do it.

We can all three fit "cozily" on the little couch to watch TV, so I guess that's good enough. :):)

Love, Laura
(The Clutter-free girl in a family of Collectors...)

We have started to get rid of some of our *stuff.*
We have so much that we are not using.
At first it was difficult because we had worked so hard to accumulate this *stuff* but now it is starting to feel liberating.
Go with your own instinct as to when is the *right* time.

Bear((( )))
