I turned the water off about 8:15pm and no sooner done, all the little robins came – pecking at the sprinkler, tilting their little robin heads, “What happened to the water, Ma?”

There were no birds around the sprinkler while it’s going – we felt awful to see them wanting water. I do have a birdbath in the garden but these are rather young ones who may not have found it. The mature ones sure enjoyed it but they seemed to have gone.

Also, I noticed the quail squat down low – I guess when they are hot – I’ve never seen that before either. Tomorrow I’ll buy a dish for them – they like it under our towering cedars.

Around here (in central PA), robins seem to like the sprinkler because it brings earthworms to the surface of the soil.

Our birds too seem very thirsty
and we have a Lake right at the end of our street every morning I put fresh water in the three bird baths and even put ice cubes in them at the hottest part of the day~
