He’s not going to be impressed- at 12:30pm an RN comes to clip his toe nails. Actually, as in other new things, he will probably just look puzzled and accept it.
After his bath, I have him lie on the bed – it very difficult for me to do them. So, instead of going for a pedicure myself, I’ll have his done. It will be just as wonderful as if it were for me.
I noticed last night that my back was sore, no tired, after bathing him – did some exercises today and will everyday, hoping it works. Not complaining – I flash the victory sign to myself in the mirror every time I get him in the tub.
Yesterday, with mock sternness, I said,”Do you realize it’s been — days since you bathed?” (Since I won, to myself.)
As I turned around he held his thumb up and laughed with a, “Yes!!!” Difficult to give him heck as he has his sense of humor and that’s a real gift to me.
***Update:Visit went very well, next time I’ll take him to her office.
I’m glad the visit went well. So many older people neglect their toenails and feet.
Ah yes, you don’t want to neglect yourself. Especially your own exercise. I’m finding that out the hard way. Now I need to stretch more often. And I have my sister on my back bugging me to exercise, take care of myself, etc. etc. It’s so easy to let our own health slip.
Hope you are still having your “outings”.
Hugs,
Hi Judy – very well. These nurses deserve medals.
Wendy, I still have Wednesdays for 4 hours. It’s a nice break and I may pay for one more per week. This would be one day for errands and one day for me.
Jeanmac….to that comment I say…….YES!!!! Take a day for yourself….if will not only be good for you but for him as well in the long run.
My heart breaks for you Jean, so many times. But I do break out in laughter often enough here
