Well, yesterday was one of most difficult to date – nothing big just many small, hazy developments.

Persevered and in the late afternoon, he offered to help me with the beans. He filled some freezer bags for me. For some reason he thought he had better move quickly and with each additional bag, he tried to work faster. It became rather time to stop – told him several times to just fill them , no rush.

Bedtime came and he went to give the Refrigerator, aka Buddy, his bedtime snack. He seemed so normal, so much like before – jumped out of his chair, decided on the snack and did it. Then it was kind of sweet, he said that while he was there, may as well go to the bathroom before bed. We were in the laundry room – pop goes the balloon of normal.

But today is another day and it’s home care. Have to get him up and ready for his care aide. Those ladies are great with him and he walks, they “read” the paper together and have coffee and cookies together- they chart it as “prepared fluids and light snack” – not adding Dad’* cookies and coffee. Kind of cute. Anyway, each of them to date has been wonderful.

So, it’s a different care aid each week. That seems kind of sad. You would at least become familiar with the same lady (or guy, I suppose). Sorry it was a tough day, but I hope you had a break running errands or relaxing a bit. Love, Annette

I was just listening to the news on TV tonight and they were talking about a promising new drug for Alz.
This new drug which is still in the testing state has only been used in Europe so far but will soon be available in Canada.
According to the news this drug targets the tangles and halts the progression…I couldn’t catch the name as my hearing is not the best (something like rember??) but I’m going to see if they mention it on the 11:00 news tonight.

Feel peace in knowing they are wonderful with him. That’s all you can do. After a rough day, look forward to the next which might be full of his humor :o )

I hope the home care day was good for both of you.
Have they told you how many different aids are going to be coming?
I also am surprised that there isn’t just one designated to your home.

God bless you for the care and caring that you give. A prayer, too, for your husband.

i found you through another blog – I Walk in Green Pastures. My father has Alzheimer’s. I write often about him on my blog if you care to stop by. It is a very difficult journey. I’ll be back to visit your blog. Blessings, jen

What a relief to have good care! My Mom always held on to the good ones for my Dad. There were so many that we were incompetent and uncaring…

Annie-had a good day and he is a bit puzzled but OK with the aides.
Mandy, thank you so much. I faxed 2 new to our specialist to ask if he were a candidate to try them.
    Mary – just thanks!
Bear-I hold my breath every Tuesday thinking they will call and cancel Wed. home care – short of staff.
    Mare- welcome.
    Wendy, back at you.
Jen – welcome. I’m so sorry for your family.
