I think I discovered one reason he doesn’t want/need to use the bathroom.

The other night I kind of insisted he “go” as we were heading to bed for the night.

He was miffed and said, “Ok, but where is it?” as he stood in the hall, directly across from the lighted room. After that, he turned to step into the other bedroom.

Feel so sorry for him.

At this stage in our journey, the sole purpose of a care aide for 4 hours, once per week, is to allow me to leave for 4 hours.

I could have asked for the aide to bathe him, dust, run and/or empty dishwasher, prepare him a light lunch (meaning only heating soup or making a sandwich). The whole four hours could have been filled “with duties”.

There are male attendants but it appears they try to reserve them for nursing orientated duties and difficult patients. Each aide who comes here, leaves commenting what a nice day she had – meaning basically no duties except to sit and read with him, etc. I am so comforted to come home and the two are in the living room reading – and he is always peaceful so must be fine with the visits.

Being delirious to get out on my own, once per week, I only asked that they take him for a walk.
Was not sure if their visits would be met with stiff opposition, to say the least. So far, Wayne only responds by saying “hi” and I give him a hug and tell him I’ll see him at 3pm – for an old gal, I make haste in a flash and am gone. (I put everything in the car ahead and even back in out into the driveway.)

Always set a tray up for them to enjoy tea, etc. after their walk.

As our journey changes, I may request help, especially getting him up, bathed and dressed, fed, etc. Have to admit, it is a bit tiring for me certain days.
