We see a geriatric psychiatrist every 4 months – he always ends my part of the visit saying to remember that I can book anytime on my own, if necessary. The appointments are for Wayne – the Doc sees Wayne first but he sees me to tell me what he has found.

So Monday I’ll book an appt. to discuss what’s happening. I know he can’t stop it or make it go away or make it better. After a visit discussing what is happening at home, I feel validated in a weird sort of way.

My Hon seems so absolutely bored at times. He goes to bed a few hours after he gets up. He has not much interest in food. His leg and thigh muscles are “caving” in for lack of a better word – large dents about 10″ long and 2″ wide and rather deep.

I’m kind of stressed and tired and can’t discuss it with him, of course. So, I need to talk to the Doc.

The other day he had difficulty putting 2 matching runners on. Was a bit miffed when I noticed and got it sorted out.

My solution, put away (hide) one matching pair and leave a matched pair by his chair in the back entry.

Came after our home care day and what do I see, mismatched runnings staring at me – hey, I could get started on a poem.

The care aide must have wondered about our “life style” or lack of it!

Then yesterday, his brother came to take him out for an hour and helped him with the mismatched runners, never skipping a beat. Ol’ eagle eyes came down the hall and saw it right away and made the switch!

Now, I had placed those runners in the furthest corner of the entry closet, behind his big steel toed boots – which I had to find downstairs! Then I casually dropped a light jacket over the whole mess.

Now, I admit I’m getting tired and a bit worn out, but my dear man, I can’t compete with you! How do you do this?
When do you do this?
