Seems we have so many little traditions tucked away in our life over 43 years – everyone does.
Yesterday, I shopped Cost*o on home care day, so was alone. I walked to the check – in area but had no cart – he always gets the cart.
Then I walked by the books and almost turned to tell him to browse thru them while I grab loaves of bread.
Got to the checkout and inadvertently handed her his card – have to shred his – it kind of hit me.
As I wheeled my full cart away, I looked longingly at the deli/food counter – and kept on walking – our berry fruit yogurt sundae held no appeal alone. We always have a sundae after shopping, always.
But, in all the sadness, a big ray of sunshine in the person of one of my favorite patients. She bumped into me – literally – at the meat counter – I love her. We are both busy, well, I’m not busy, just can’t get away – once we discussed schedules, it worked out the first week we had free was just after Thanksgiving – can you believe that? Well, she is going to Mexico for 3 weeks!
So a negative and a positive = no big problem over all:)
I can say nothing except that I just prayed for you after I read this post. Thank you for being so transparent. You are blessing me. I pray the journaling is helping you. May your day today be filled with the Sonshine of His love and you both have a good day.
Frozen yogurt sundaes and browsing through the books…the details of life seem to be more frought with meaning when they are shared. I love that you have had so many traditions. We do, too. Some of ours are when my daughter is home, when we are too serious, she and I go do a somersault on my bed. The last time, I thought I pulled something in my neck, but it did make the day more fun. Okay, we’re weird! You and Wayne have been blessed to share so many things. And even more, you have realized the gifts, not taking them for granted. You teach me how to appreciate my own relationship, not taking the little things for granted. God bless you along the way. Love, Annette
I know.
Marylou, we will live each day to the best of our ability, keeping Sonshine in all.
Annette, I laughed when you said you pulled something b/c my first thought was, “I’d never dare that!”
And Beverly,I know you know and wish you didn’t know – think of you often.
All my hugs and prayers to both of you.

Old habits die hard. I am sorry, I can imagine it was a lonely experience. Billy always gets the cart too.
I don’t think I have ever been shopping alone. We always kept the weekends for our shopping and did it together. When I got sick and couldn’t go, he had to go without me. He told me it was so lonely.
Oh it’s hard. I found that all Hubby’s outdoor chores didn’t get done. He always does them, so I just didn’t give it any thought.
And I remember going to the library together and going to the dairy queen on a summer’s evening to watch the full moon come up. So many little things……
