To answer Bear’s questions: The treadmill is a medium good one at approx. $1500.
Safety and security are key. Any good quality ones have a “key” – one end is a magnet to attach to the machine and other end clips to your clothing. That way, if you fall or whatever, the clip of course comes out and treadmill stops.
The base is very sturdy and secure and also the frame. The picture (previous post) is of my TM and it’s very stable.
Being I used a Nord*c track ski machine for 18 years, I had a dickens of a time “walking” on the TM – kept wanting to ski – I looked like a child just learning to walk – kid of run/walking on my tiptoes, both hands flailing in the air. It was so annoying.
At first, I held onto the handle bars but you don’t want to do that – my bro suggested to consciously say “heel to toe” as I stepped – set it one lowest speed and in about 5 minutes conquered that ski mind set. Am doing 2 twenty minute sessions at 4mph – could go longer time wise but I’m 63 and thought better ease into it. The 4 mph is “just right” but I know I’ll boot it up soon.
Since June 25th, I have lost 9 pounds without dieting so I guess it’s worth it’s weight in gold(fat)!
PS Feel very safe on it as it is large, strong and very stable. Don’t buy a cheap one. And you can hold the hand grips for the first bit til you get used to it.
