We sat in the living room, reading newspapers.
“So, do you want to walk before or after supper?”
I was in shock and grabbed our runners before he changed his mind or forgot that he wanted to go.
We walked “our” route of yesteryear – he marveled how big certain trees were – I guess he was remembering them from a few years ago. I was delirious with joy.
Got home and he went on and on how nice the walk was. Please, please, dear God, keep this up. A clarity we haven’t seen in years.
Set the table and mentioned we were low on milk and I had forgotten to buy it while we were out.
“I’ll just run down and get some.” That would never do so I poured juice for us, talking it up til he forgot about milk.
We ate our meal and the bubble burst – announced he wouldn’t shovel snow on a full stomach.
It was so wonderful – - -while it lasted. This hasn’t happened for many months or even last year.
Something to cherish.
So the last 24 hours have been full of love and laughter – and a wee bit of embarrassment tossed in:)
Wayne likes to buy discards at the library and soon I’ll have no more room – I digress. There was a whole bin of shiny, expensive, eye catching computer languages books. And what a bargain – a dollar each. (If I bought them, people would think I knew what I don’t know!)
I never call Mark at work but didn’t want to miss out on the deals for him. He graciously informed the languages, etc. were old and – - – well, I got the picture – but they’re a dollar!!!
MiHwa, Mark’s wife, called this morn – they are both programmers – I told her of my “find”.
“Yes, Mom, there’s a reason they are a dollar:)”
Anyway, she wanted to speak with Dad and I turned around – he was gone. Back in bed. They will visit soon – that will be better – the telephone is not his friend any longer.
Again, my love and thanks to everyone who supports Wayne and I with words, spoken and unspoken, with emails and comments.
