I pulled the photo out of the envelope as he walked in the room, “What do you think?” as I held it for his inspection.
Him: “What do you think?” (This is how he snows people and I guess how he managed to work longer than ever thought possible)
Me: “It’s beautiful. We have to frame it.”
Him: “Who is it?”
We have been decorating the sideboard in the dining room – twice I had heard panic in his voice as he stumbled down the stairs in the (sunken) living room – only 2 steps but it doesn’t take much to break an ankle, etc.
This is new tonight – he blamed the Christmas decoration boxes which are 10′ from the stairs – maybe he’s looking at them and distracted.
So I will put them all back in storage tonight – house isn’t completely decorated but what’s more important?
He and BIL wired the lights on the back deck this afternoon. After they left, I set his chair so he could enjoy the deck lights and the Christmas tree.
“Thanks a lot – the lights look great, Hon.”
“So who put them up?”
He is changing so quickly the past little bit that it frightens me. Will I have him here for next Christmas? No one knows.
Very good news yesterday, M&M are arriving December 21 and leave December 27 – how wonderful is that?
Dropped him off at BIL’s at 12:30pm, returning at 4pm. My sister and I enjoyed our Christmas luncheon and shopping trip. Wonderful time.
Although the sky was bright blue, a dark cloud hovered overhead. I had to fore go tea with them and take him home. It was too long a time to leave him. I can see that in order to live, I will have to pay for a 3rd day of care, maybe 6 hours. My 4 hour sessions are too short to get much done as I have a 40minute drive to get to the “big smoke” and then back home – and one can’t be late as the aides are on a strict schedule.
Thank you, BIL, for helping me out – once again!
I have never seen the issue of “opposite” addressed in my reading about Alzheimer’s. Actually, just recently, he has been displaying it daily.

Turns his glass “open side down” to be filled
Shouldn’t the cat be in bed? (5pm)
At bedtime comments, shouldn’t it be getting light soon?
Cutlery on the dishwasher racks and plates set ever so carefully on the cutlery rack.
Lids placed before setting item in dishwasher.
“The snow’s gone, better get the tires changed.”
Has anyone seen this happen?
