It’s been a long journey for us, especially for him. For sure the journey has been 8 years and as I go over scenarios, probably well into 9.

We still laugh, honor each other and make the best of each day. Some days that means his sleeping off and on all day or like today, up at 9am, scaring the living daylights out of me – he has always been so quiet. (I ask him to call out as he comes down the hall and today when I jumped, he laughed and says he “forgets” and I’m sure he does.)

When I have the week of respite, think I’ll sleep it off. I’ll be lonely for him and wonder how to fill the days – there’s so much I could do. It will be different to not coach, help, “aid and abet” every action in our day.

In a greedy way, look forward to the day I can jump in the car, unfettered, but I’ll eat these words when it happens. Would be nice to travel again – that is out of our lives now. It’s easier to stay home. Maybe being hopeful, I renewed both passports last year – they sit in our safe, waiting for wings, as do I – just being honest.

One bright spot on the horizon is the plan to fly to Korea with our precious DIL – I haven’t met her family yet although we all feel very close and connected. We send gifts and messages back and forth.

Another plan is to make time to meet some bloggers – wouldn’t it be nice to see each other – “so that’s what you look like”! I guess most of us have seen a sneak preview of each other on blogs.
I tend to not post much in that line right now.

Hopefully this post doesn’t sound too negative – just a few thoughts I had to share with a measure of guilt.

Bundled up in my parka and jammies to carry the recycling and garbage out – head down, grumbling to Mr. Weatherman.

I turned back to grab the other 3 bags of recycling – they had been put out by our neighbors! Being we stack our recycling in one big pile, I hadn’t noticed.

Happy, happy, happy.
Now, coffee, coffee, coffee.
