My Sis and BIL looked after Wayne tonight for 5 1/2 hours.

Shortly after they left, off to the bathroom with him. He really needed to go.

This is causing me grave concern for when he goes into respite – I know the staff understand to take him often but maybe the first day he could resist – thinking I’ll be coming “home” and he’ll wait for me.

As usual, worrying is what I do best.

Hope everyone had a good day. We did.

Oh Honey, don’t worry. It’ll take both of you a few days to adjust and in the end things will be just fine.

They are very trained at those places. My mothers mother was in one and was taken very good care of.

You and your man are in my prayers.

I think if you tell the staff what he is like, you will not have to worry about it, Jean.

I agree with Lea and Kenju – the staff is trained for exactly those types of issues – if you tell the staff about your concern, I’m confident that they can handle it. Try not to worry – leave this one the same place that you shrugged off the bath-battle worries.

Remember, when you’re not there, God will be.

Are ‘you’ going to respite for a few days or will ‘he’ be staying there like a nursing home? Sorry – I’m just trying to understand better. Thanks.

i agree with everyone else…if you tell them his schedule, they will listen and they will learn it anyway. God will take care of him, just like He took care of the bathing issue. Take those worry thoughts captive…know it’s hard but try.

Letting go, and trusting are so hard, when you’re passing on care to others. Deep breathe, and do it.

I’m sure it’s like leaving your helpless newborn in the hands of strangers and it will be tough for you….but you NEED to do it and he’ll be fine. Like everyone else has said, that’s what they are trained to do and I’m certain they’ve dealt with all kinds of situations. I’ll be praying for God’s peace for you.

He’ll be o.k. Nurses are used to this and they know how to make things work. Remember how the aides got your hubby to take his bath?
