Forgot to mention that he is doing really well “one on one” with day care. The aide takes him walking if he decides “he’s going for a walk”.
He likes the physical games but soon as he is not busy, he’s telling them he’ll just go for a walk. I offered to keep him home but I guess the bags under my eyes suggested he attend:) Actually, they are arranging for 2 days per week as feel he should socialize more but mercy, the drop off is difficult – for both of us. Last week we were 10 minutes in the parking lot before I got him in the door. I have to say those ladies and guys are really terrific and treat everyone like family.
So I’ve started studying the French language again. I really love listening to a good French conversation – recently attended a “local artist show” at our French cultural centre. Felt like I was eavesdropping, trying to understand the peoples’ conversations. There was nothing private – well, maybe there was, I didn’t catch it:)
Anyway, when Wayne reads, I grab my texts and make cards, just as I did in high school. Mark sent me a good link to study online so no excuses.
Pack rat that I am, my texts from school sat waiting to be read, along with a Fr/Eng translation dictionary. There’s something good about pack ratting, I guess. I’ve sorted and tossed a lot but books, can’t do it!
(When our sons were 3 and 5 years of age, one of my best friends was French Canadian. She was fluent in English but her 6 children spoke only French. Our two, only English. They understood each other and ours came home with a really humorous confusion of words. One of ours said he “saw a dog brown” – so sweet)
Really want all my blogger friends to know that I have not deserted you. It’s been difficult to get time to read this past 2 weeks.
Tonight, I thought I’d start with the “A’s” and promise myself I’d get thru the list. FYI, I’m now at the “K’s” so there is hope for me. I miss reading and seeing what everyone is up to.
Lately, Wayne has become more clingy – is there a medical name for that? I don’t know but I do know it’s difficult to chat on the phone or use the computer if he’s up. TV is a no-no also.
Anyway, all is well but felt I owed an explanation:)
He looked for a place to set his tea – “This table is so full of books, stuff all over.” He grumbled for a bit til he moved books and found a wee spot.
(He was referring to the cocktail table which holds maybe 40 books – all his:) I didn’t comment that they were all his. Mom always said if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything. I have to remember that 100 times a day.
For Christmas, I tried to explain we should move them to another corner “just for Christmas”. He agreed and then was confused and upset. So no Christmas arrangement last year – unless you count Mary Higgins Clarke’s Christmas book.
His razor croaked. No big deal for a guy – unless he is dealing with AD.
Family members visited recently and searched our city to find a razor the same style as the one he had (for 20 years!).
Good luck, found it but sold out. Yesterday, we returned to the store and bought a shiny, new razor. Aack! Immediately he started shaving his hair again. “No, Wayne, here.” I pointed to his chin. So far so good – then the hair again! I am taking his old razor to my “friend” at a Battery Stop and see if it still works – if it does, it will be a back up:)
