We have known him since he was 4 or 5 – he’s grown into a wonderful, caring, smart young man.

Today my sister and BIL had this young fellow over to help with something. We all ate breakfast together.

While I was in the kitchen plating his meal, Wayne, the young fellow and my sister were at the dining table.

Wayne speared a slice of tomato with his fork, then was stymied, no plate. He held it in the air til Sis ran for a small plate for him. By the time she was back, he had set the slice on his napkin.

All this time, the young fellow pretended to not notice. Later, Wayne  had difficulty eating and again, their guest carried on as if not seeing. I was so impressed. Bless your heart, B.

The other night, I awoke to a frantic, “I can’t see!!!”

We’re on a mountain (too high:) neighborhood with no street lights and houses are on .25 or .33 acres so far apart.

I looked over and assured him he couldn’t see because it was night. “It’s 2 a.m.”

He fell back on the pillows, relieved. Then the humor of it hit him. We both laughed.

Initially I was choked as sleep is a rare commodity and mine was interrupted – but, I’ll always remember this with love and a laugh.
