So he got out of the locked house this afternoon without my hearing him turn the key or relock the door.

At 5pm I always turn the news on for him and I go to the bedroom and watch 30 minutes of Nancy Grace. No more NG for me.

I had a weird feeling and jumped up, called his name. No answer. Just then, our fireman neighbor was banging on our door.

“I just saw Wayne round the corner down the street. I’m running to get him.” Could barely believe my ears.

Sis said Someone must be looking after him. The neighbor was working in his garage and just happened to glance down the road at the right time.

We have unfenced orchards on the east and north sides of our road so if he ever decided to hike thru one of those, we’d have a job on our hands.

God is watching out for him…most definitely, and I’m happy to hear he’s home and safe again. What a scare you must’ve had!

Might be time for some sort of alarm. I have a friend who has a driveway alarm to warn her if anyone comes to her house. This might work for anyone leaving the house as well and Wayne wouldn’t hear it since it would be tripped AFTER he goes out the door. I think it’s tripped by breaking an invisible beam. I hope you can figure out something so you can rest easier when you’ve got the time.

Hi. We have a security specialty shop in town – guess it’s time for a visit. Thanks for checking in – hope all is well.

Oh my goodness, what a scare! Thanks goodness for your neighbor! I agree – time for some sort of door alarm. And make sure all your neighbors know that if they see W out by himself, it is an emergency!

My heart stopped. Bless you both.

    Your neighbors are so good!
Things seem to be escalating, aren’t they?
We surely feel for you both.

Maybe it’s time for a GPS device pinned on clothing somewhere?
    That was a scare.
Well, you can eliminate watching Nancy Grace BUT you will still need to use the bathroom!

we put simple eye hook locks on the doors, we were told to put them up high or down low. selling my dad’s house and was told by gas company today that wires had been cut in the furnance and water heater. Dad was always working on something.

Jean, you can miss NG for several weeks and it seems she is still talking about the same thing so no worries.

The beam alarm is a great idea as we have them placed around our yards to alert us of moose or wild life that may be wandering around. It also chimes if someone walks up or goes in the second driveway.

They can be placed at the door, yard, or other areas so you will be alerted if the beam is broken and can react quickly.

Keep your chin up and hang in there.
