Can’t sleep so go to his office/den to sit and think. This room just exudes his presence. Curl up in one of his comfy chairs, turn on his floor lamp and gaze at his desk.
First thing that catches my eye is his “turkey”. Years ago we owned a gift shop with a “partner of sorts”. Soon as he saw the turkey he had to have it. It’s really a brass eagle but his “best friend/partner in crime” called it his turkey and the name stuck. She and Wayne worked together for years and they had a relationship people dream of – both same humor and full of pranks.
Ever so neat, his hard cover Hitchcocks sit between bookends on his desk. The accounting, flying books, woodworking manuals, all sorted nicely on his shelves. Then the humor books, what a collection – and the science books and magazines, computer books and discs.
Look at his clock, it’s 2:50 am, time to try to sleep again.
Get up and close the door from another Life light years ago.
I have finally caught on it’s best to just put a knife and fork out. If I set a spoon, he will try to use it to “spear” a piece of food or will carry food to his mouth with it – with great difficulty.
Once it’s ice cream time or whatever, remove knife and fork, set spoon out.
Seems like such a wee idea but it’s been helpful to do this.
