She approached Wayne in the reception area, holding her hand out. He looked bewildered but took her hand, I held his other. “Hi Wayne, I’m *****. I’m Jean’s friend, I’ll clean your teeth today.”
Settled in the dental chair and accepted her offer of a glass of cold water, “But whiskey would be better!”
She agreed several people have requested but not received whiskey.
Appointment went really well.
As she said her goodbye, he moved toward her to hug but then shook her hand instead. It was so sweet. She’s very young and very wise.(What is so interesting to this story is the response of the other patients. Some were perplexed, puzzled, one kind of smiled, most stared. Wayne presents so well that until he has to respond or react, one would probably not catch on that he is ill.
I try to have him groomed and dressed well to present the best image possible.
The receptionists smiled, mostly at our hygienist, knowing what a great lady she is. Once the appointment was over, each receptionist called him by name and wished him a good day, etc. Wonderful place.)
How nice to find such compassionate people. We have had a wonderful hygienist for year who calmed the crazy dentist fears of our youngest daughter. Her first hygienist had been too silly, trying too hard to make her enjoy the chair and it backfired badly.
An angel indeed. God bless her. I have observed that many times here in Florida with many elderly patients whom I observe. If they could all realize that it just takes a moment.
You and Wayne both are surrounded by many guardian angels.
God has his angels in places you’d never expect.
God has his angels in places you’d never expect.
Oops…forgot to say great post! Looking forward to your next one.
LOL – I always love Wayne’s sense of humor. Maybe I’ll try asking for whiskey next time!
You really have been blessed by coming in contact with just the right people…who can see, and understand, and handle things in just the right way.
There is a higher power for sure, working each day, to help you it seems. Each day brings its own miracle…via W’s humor, or reaction. Your observations are so keen, and you’re so understanding of it all.
You amaze me with wonderment!
Susan
Thank you for this gentle reminder. We shouldn’t ever jump to judge, not realizing what lies behind the scenes.
Love his remark about whiskey!
Whiskey! I’ve never thought of that. Brilliant!
This story makes me smile!
ALWAYS thinking about you guys!
Love,
Angie xoxo
