I sit with him, alone in the evening.

We chat about this and that, then he closes his eyes and “zones” out.

I watch his eye movements, his fingers splayed on his thighs.

He is at peace, why does it bother me so?

Because you don’t have the luxury of ever being at peace, is why I think it bothers you. My husband and I were talking about his sister in law tonight and I mentioned that from you sharing your experiences with us, I’ve realized AD is harder on the caregiver than the person with AD. You’re always in my thoughts and prayers. HUGS

Have to agree with Midlife Slices…it’s much harder on the one giving the care. YOu’re always alert, aware, and on duty. YOu need sleep dear lady, to recharge and refresh.
This is such a noble, loving thing that you do.
Not all could be so giving and understand so.

Well I agree with Midlife SLices and CDM –

He can be at peace because he doesn’t know the future – you can’t be at peace because you do.
